Building on the Past
Leadership predates the emergence of humankind, for example from animal origins and pecking orders, seen most significantly with the dominance effects in primates. The Selfless Leader begins by exploring Old World Leaders’ (OWLs ), which includes (but does not necessarily begin with) the Greek Philosophers. New World Leaders (from the time of industrialisation and modernity are then considered. Global World Leaders then follow in looking at leadership in the 21st century.
Your Leadership: You are part of your journey but, we travel together. This is the mantra for our approach to collaborative leadership. We use the collective leadership approach which comprises both shared and distributed leadership but within a transformational leadership style in which selflessness is preferred to selfish motiviations and where 'ego' is left behind! We will consider the six intelligent leadership questions which help in promoting the view that leadership is the property of a community and not of an individual.
Leadership can emerge from any point within an organisation or its networks. It thus follows a 360 degree approach. The authenticity of a leader will be determined by the leaders propensity for either selfless or selfish motivations. In both cases we explore how both synergetics and cybernetics can be aligned to collective leadership using ancient notions of geometry and the identification of patterns.
